Westlands Member of Parliament Hon. Tim Wanyonyi has held a crucial meeting with candidates eyeing key leadership positions at AFC Leopards ahead of the club’s much-anticipated elections slated for June 29, 2025.

The meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together aspirants for the chairperson, secretary general, and treasurer’s posts, led by chairman hopefuls Bonface Ambani and Enos Mutokah. Also in attendance were outgoing club patron Alex Muteshi and U-45 Unit Branch Chairman Olympia Musonye.
Hon. Wanyonyi, a long-time supporter of the 13-time Kenyan champions, used the forum to rally the contenders to unite for the good of the club after the polls. He urged them to prioritize revamping AFC Leopards’ structures and reconnecting with grassroots branches to reignite the passion of the club’s vast support base.
“We must go back to our previous glory as a club. After the elections, let’s put aside our differences, embrace our competitors, and move the club forward as one family,” said Wanyonyi.
The legislator emphasized the importance of accountability and sound leadership in restoring confidence among fans and attracting more supporters to the stadium. “AFC remains the only true Luhya uniting factor. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to keep this institution alive and thriving,” he remarked.
He further called for peaceful and mature elections, cautioning aspirants against divisive politics and post-election arrogance. “Once you win, do not over-celebrate and hurt your fellow aspirants. The club is bigger than any individual,” he cautioned.
Hon. Wanyonyi challenged the incoming leadership to prioritize grassroots recruitment drives to identify and nurture raw talent, which could be developed and commercialized through player sales abroad.
In a bold pledge of support, Wanyonyi declared his readiness to take up the club patron position if offered, promising to rally other influential leaders from the region and beyond to back the club’s resurgence.
“I will always be there for AFC Leopards. Together, we can restore the club’s pride and legacy,” he concluded.
The AFC Leopards elections come at a time when the club is seeking to rebuild both on and off the pitch after years of mixed fortunes.
