NG-CDF Westlands Issues 2,800 Bursaries in Parklands and Kitisuru Wards

The Westlands NG-CDF office has continued its bursary issuance program, benefiting hundreds of students and families in Parklands/Highridge and Kitisuru wards.

A total of 2,800 bursary cheques were issued during today’s exercise, with 2,000 allocated to secondary school students and 800 to tertiary students, reaffirming the constituency’s commitment to supporting education for all.

Speaking during the issuance, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi emphasized transparency and inclusivity in the process.

“Your cheques are here and we give them freely and openly. It does not matter where your child studies; as long as you are a voter in Westlands, we will support you to educate your children,” he said.

The MP noted that the NG-CDF program has played a key role in reducing the burden of school fees and development harambees, while also supporting projects such as Loresho Secondary School, which continues to produce students progressing to university.

He further highlighted ongoing community empowerment initiatives, including women’s table banking programs and youth projects, and thanked residents for the 15 years they have entrusted him with leadership.

“Whoever comes after me should be better than me,” he added.

Bursary Committee Chairperson Pastor Ngaira noted that the fund has expanded its reach over time.

“Last year, we doubled the allocation of bursaries to colleges to 400 while maintaining 1,000 high school beneficiaries in each ward. All those who applied and filled the forms will receive their cheques,” he said.

He also urged beneficiaries who may have missed earlier collection days to visit the NG-CDF office.

“Those who were not able to collect their cheques during the Kangemi/Mt. View and today’s Kitisuru and Parklands exercises can visit our new office tomorrow, Wednesday, to collect them. On Friday, we will be in Karura Ward at Hospital Hill High School.”

NG-CDF Westlands Chairlady Frida Lenayasa reiterated the fairness of the process.

“We do not discriminate anyone in this process. We serve all residents equally,” she said.

Residents who benefited from the bursaries expressed gratitude for the continued support.

Francis Musungu praised the MP’s long-term impact on education in the constituency.

“It is a privilege to have Hon. Tim. Since 2013, he has helped educate our children, and some are now working. We are very grateful and we continue to pray for him,” he said.

The bursary program remains a key pillar of NG-CDF Westlands’ efforts to ensure that students from all backgrounds have access to education and opportunities for a better future.
