Angela Wanjiru Muriuki also known as Ciru Muriuki, went on to her Twitter account and narrated how she had a heartbreaking interaction with a petrol station attendant.
The petrol station attendant told her that the COVID-19 claims are fake. This because he believed that it only serves as a source of corruption. This because he believed leaders squander donation funds for COVID-19.
As she warned Kenyans on the potential of the deadly virus, Ciru Muriuki revealed that she lost her father to COVID-19.
To make matters worse, she had to mourn her dad while in isolation since she had also contracted the virus. In her Twitter thread, Ciru said that as much as Africans are celebrating low death cases, there are still some families that are mourning loss of their loved ones.

“This weekend while at a petrol station, I struck up a conversation with the attendant, who proceeded to tell me that COVID-19 is fake, a ploy to get donor funds. That broke me, because my father died of COVID-19. I also contracted the virus and had to mourn my dad in almost complete solitude. I cannot think of anything worse.
“So as we talk about how the virus has a low death rate, or how it isn’t that serious, or how Africa has been “spared”, remember that people have lost loved ones to this. It has taken the person I loved the most. We are in agony. This thing is real. Complacency is our worst enemy,” says Ciru via her Tweet.

Few weeks ago, the BBC journalist paid tribute to her dad saying, “I will love you forever dad.
The rest of my life will be spent longing to see you again, my most honoured, most beloved, most cherished father.”
Kenyans went ahead to pass on their condolences. Other people tried to justify that many of them have lost trust with the government.
