Guide on identifying your body shape and dressing accordingly

 

 

Learning how to dress your body type is one of the amazing things that one can discover. Different people have different body and it’s important to know your body type. It’s funny how one can look good in a certain outfit but when someone else wears the same outfit he/she looks bad. But when it comes to looking good, it’s not about the size or shape that matters, it’s the fit. Nowadays there are many varying clothes hence there is something for everyone no matter the height, proportion, and size. Knowing your body shape is the first step to dressing well. When it comes to determining body shape, don’t just focus on the tummy, arms, or thighs but generally the whole body.

The different body shapes

 

There are different ways to know your body shape which include:

 

Apple body shape
This body shape is characterized by having;
-broader shoulders than hips
-not being curvy through your hips
-Waist-line that is not well-defined, generally being well proportional.
Here one should focus on shoulders and legs. Avoid wearing fitting tops. Straight leg pants and shift will complement this body shape.
• Hourglass body shape
-The body is so curvy
-Mostly one has filled hips, bust, and thighs.
-Well defines the waist
-The bust and hips are roughly even.
For hourglass, choose clothing that will highlight the curves. Find clothes that accentuate your body. To complement this, it’s advisable to wear jumpsuits, jackets, blazers, and pencil skirts. Also wearing wide-leg pants will bring out the curvy body.

 

Rectangular shaped body
Has the following characteristics;
-The waist is not very small or well-defined, but rather straight up and down.
-One is not curvy.
-Hips and shoulders have nearly the same measurements
-weight is evenly distributed throughout the body.
Here one should focus on creating some curves. Wearing a waistless dress will help create some curves. Pencil skirts and wrap dresses will work well on this body shape as they create a waist
Triangle shaped body
One has this body if;
-You have narrower shoulder than hips
-waist is wider than bust
-You consider yourself as having fuller hips.
The focus here is balancing the broader shoulders with the narrow lower body. Wearing V-neck tops and wrap tops compliments this body shape. Fit and flare dress also look good in this shape.
