Hustlers are Thieves- Atwoli calls out Ruto’s Camp

Cotu Chairperson, Mr Francis Atwoli has bashed Deputy President, Dr Ruto’s Hustlers team again. In a press conference on 17th September, Mr Atwoli referred to Team Hustlers as thieves and unforesighted. He went on to describe the whole issue of hustling as being an idea of stupid people.

Do not endorse hustling

Mr Atwoli has come up to attack the idea of hustling, suggesting a high-end lifestyle for young Kenyans. ‘You need to graduate from university, look at advertisements from companies, then apply. Later, go for interviews, pay no bribe and earn yourself a job’, Mr Atwoli said. This is however a huge contrast with the situation on the ground. High levels of unemployment are prevalent in the country, especially for young fresh graduates. This has led to many graduates resulting in doing menial informal jobs as a way of earning a living. Atwoli’s ideas may therefore come out as insults to the youth who are struggling to make ends meet.

Atwoli has further endorsed top-notch dressing as a way of beating the idea of hustling. He suggests formal designer clothing and general nice outlook of the youth. This, again, comes as an insult to them. As many Kenyans struggle to provide for themselves and their families, not many have been able to come near these standards. Atwoli’s suggestions may therefore come as a shock to many. It is interesting to note that Mr Atwoli is the Chairman of COTU, a body that looks at the welfare of workers. This means that he should be totally aware of the worrying situation of high unemployment situation among Kenyans.

Angered Netizens

Atwoli’s move has caused an uproar as netizens poured out their wrath and dissatisfaction on Twitter. Many have come out to condemn his speach, terming it as unreasonable, ignorant and stupid.

A few came out to defend his claims, noting that Kenyans are obssessed with the hustler mentality until they have become unforesighted.

Hustling Narrative is trying to encourage youths to be mediocre, to peddle drugs,to look for shortcuts and to steal,just like the main “HUSTLER” did to mint his billions @jabbyzo

As the war between hustlers and dynasties intensifies, the main question remains to be, when are Kenyans ever going to benefit from these wrangles? Meanwhile, Atwoli has angered DP Ruto’s Camp and some fightback is expected. We’ll be keen to unveil the story as it is unleashed.
