Kenyan Football Back On Screens As FKF Signs Seven Year Broadcast Deal With StarTimes

Relief for Local Football fans as FKF secures a seven year broadcast deal with Chinese Pay Television StarTimes. This follows the announcement made on Tuesday September 29, by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa.

This comes after three years of dark football after the exist of Super Sport who were the Kenya Premier League Broadcast Partners until 2017.

The deal, worth Sh836m, also includes airing matches for Kenya’s top two football divisions as well as the men and women national teams, FKF president Nick Mwendwa said.

“FKFPL (is) back on TV!! (the) 7-year deal, 1.1 million dollars a year including national teams men and women, NSL 30 matches,” tweeted the FKF boss.

According to Mwendwa, the first match to be beamed live under the deal is the international friendly when Harambee Stars hosts Zambia on October 10, as part of preparations for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

“And Harambee Stars opens the show with Zambia on 10th October. Football is back bigger and better,” he posted on his official Twitter account.

The multi-million sponsorship deal comes just months after the federation secured a Sh. 1.2 billion title sponsorship for the FKF Premier League, with an online betting firm from Nigeria.
