PRESS RELEASE ON THE PERSISTENCE ATTACK ON THE OFFICE AND PERSONALITY OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTION (ODPP), MR.NOORDIN HAJJI.
We have in the past weeks seen spirited efforts by section of activists to taint the name of the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji and the Directorate at large.
We understand some of those behind the campaign are not happy with the manner in which the ODPP is running its work.
Further, the people behind the drive are known to be either on hire or are facing various criminal charges before courts.
Some are convicts and are apparently unhappy with the events happening at the ODPP.
Whereas we don’t want to name the individuals or groups behind the campaign, it’s important for them to know we know them and we shall soon name them.
Infact we have information of meetings they or their agents have been having ahead of their moves.
The latest drive is the ones seen before courts where activists are fighting to erode the powers of the ODPP. They are forgetting that there is always tomorrow and you never know who will be in power. We leave it to courts to decide even though the issue has been dealt with by at least three courts. We believe the ODPP is stronger and good to handle any matter competently. We need independent institutions for prosperity.
Another drive has been witnessed among some activists who we understand are on payroll of some politicians under probe or before courts.
Notably is the effort by a senior Nairobi County Government official who is using a section of Bunge la Mwananchi an amorphous organization to persistently tarnish the name of Hajji and the directorate, time and again they have held briefs, social media activities and press conferences to continually attacks the personality, image and good work of Mr. Noordin Hajji.
We are also cognizant of a plan hatched and executed by his agents to petition the office of Public service commission for the removal of Mr. Noordin Hajji.
WE are warning the County official to desist from interfering with the working of the office of the ODPP and patiently await the ruling of his matters in court.
Any continued effort to interfere with the effort shall be met with full force of law
Ours is simple. We will defend the ODPP to the end. No amount of intimidation will stop us and the office. We are ready. Bring the drama. We will defeat you! All we ask is respect of constitutional institutions.
