Pumwani hospital has in the past years had issues . Some hours ago a disturbing incident occurred outside the Pumwani hospital .This happenned when a pregnant woman arrived at the hospital . She came by a taxi.
She had gone to the hospital to seek for maternity help. Only for her to deliver at the entrance of the gate of the hospital . A number of women screamed at the guard to see if he could open the gate. But their efforts bore no fruits .This happened after the security guard denied the woman access to the hospital. Why on earth would someone do that to an expectant woman!Their should be prioritisation to mothers especially in such serious matters.
Reason behind it
Sources say that the county had shut down all services as they awaited for disbursement of revenue funds . After all, that wouldn’t be a genuine reason to let such incident happen . The baby of the woman was lying on the ground . This from a video that was send on twitter by a user identified as Syombua Kibue .The baby was openly exposed to the sun .But the women around her later covered the baby with lesos’ to protect the baby.
“While Senate and the governors are busy fighting, women who expect services from hospitals like Pumwani are being turned down”, wrote Syombua . Pumwani has still a lot to fix to make sure such won’t happen again .Efforts by eyewitnesses to reach to the management took time. But later on the hospital staff came to her rescue .Despite that neither Nairobi county ,the Ministry of Health nor the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has responded to the matter .We just hope they will come up with something good. But the Nairobi women representative wouldn’t fail to comment on the issue. She criticized the hospital administrators and urged relevant authorities to investigate the matter.
