Several students sent home because of school fees

Education CS Magoha addresses media houses. Several students who were unable to raise the entire school fees were sent home. This is for the second term school fees.

A private school is located along Jogoo road, Nairobi. It was highlighted after barring pupils from accessing the classrooms.

A parent from a school in Nakuru expressed his shock. When he discovered that his child’s had been turned into a mattress factory during the pandemic. His son’s personal effects were held by the school. This was until he cleared a fee balance from the disrupted first term.
On the same Education CS George addressed the parents. He directed that parents should pay up what they can to facilitate the education of their children.

“Parents are taking advantage, please take the little money that you have to school. If you go with nothing you will have to be interrogated. If you can pay then you kust pay,” he stated.
This was a stark contrast to the statement made on September 22 by the CS. He assured parents that no student would be sent home over lack of fees.

” For boarding schools, tge tuition part is also free. The only fee that parents pay is what the students consume. And my teachers are ready to listen to those parents amd we should treat each case as it comes,” he stated.

He also advised parents, “If you have no fees come back to public school. We will take you child because the government ahas directed that we should have 100% transition.”

An estimate was given for the students who went back to class. 1.6 million Grade four pupils. 1.2 million standard Eight and 700,000 Form Four candidates resumed in person class.Parents come out pointing out the struggles to raise school fees and buy learning materials.

Directives regarding recorded cases of the Corona virus. In any school the students who can exhibit any symptoms will be isolated. They will be managed within school as they await evacuation.

On October 11th the 10 member special task issued their recommendation. When the rest of the students should resume in school classes.
