What having a healthy relationship means

As a human , we constantly meet new people every day and even end up building a relationship with others. Its always hard to know who to choose to be part of your life. Friendship is a process that grows from one stage to another daily. Thus, before even deciding to be in a relationship it has to start at the friendship level. Relationships are simple on the surface. But they are truly quite complicated as they are mainly built on trust, honesty, respect, and a fundamental base of acceptance.

Many college students end up messing with this relationship thing. In college years is when many students become sexually active making many to make poor decisions. While many feel like they are well equipped to handle themselves in their relationship. This mostly not the case as many are not armed with adequate sexual health and safety knowledge to make a decision . This increases risks for health issues and sexual encounters.

Characteristics of a healthy relationship

Several components create a healthy relationship. For a relationship to be successful, the partners must put their full effort into making the relationship work. It’s a two-way street: The love you get from your partner is the love they get from you and vice versa.

 

Feeling sharing-both people should genuinely have a feeling for each other and have respect for each other feelings.

Forgiveness-Grudges are toxic and the fastest way to kill a relationship. Incase of a misunderstanding you should sort then let it go and move on.

Time prioritization-spending time with your partner is important. This mostly for girls as they always need attention. This also helps in strengthening the bond.

Balancing the relationship-Both having equal control over a decision , no one should have power over the other.
• Understanding that you are responsible for your happiness-Many people, unfortunately, have the habit of believing and expecting that their partner should be the source of happiness. However, in truly vibrant and healthy relationships,neither of the partners expects the other to be a source of happiness in their life.

 

Both understanding and accepting the fact that you can’t agree on everything-having different opinions should not be a deal-breaker.

Support-Everybody has her strength and weaknesses. Good partners should work together to bring the best version of each other. Majorly by supporting your partner’s goals, dreams, and visions.

Equal efforts-a healthy relationship is a mutual agreement and not a one-sided

• Both partners being loyal to another and willing to work on any conflict together.
