Journalist Anne Kiguta has announced her departure from K24.
Taking on social media, Kiguta thanked her viewers for welcoming her into their houses for the past two years as an anchor-woman for Punchline which aired on K24.
“Let me begin by thanking you for welcoming me into your homes in my roles as a journalist and anchor-woman. As you know for the last two years, I have been anchoring the Sunday evening program Punchline on K24. It is with regret that today I announce that I will not be returning to the program.” said Anne Kiguta.
She attributed the decision to disagreement with the editorial processes and the direction the show was being forced to take.
“Owing to the fundamental disagreement on the editorial processes and direction the show was being forced to take, I suspended my services as an independent contractor to the show on 21st November 2020.
My decision was guided by the Code of Conduct contained in the Media Council of Kenya Act which guides all journalist practicing in the Republic of Kenya. As a result, I can no longer in good conscience continue to be part of Punchline.” said Kiguta.
She finally describes how proud she is of what she has achieved together with the crew at the station who worked hard to bring the show.
