Covid-19 Vaccine Hopes

Are there Covid-19 vaccine hopes? The world is in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic. As WHO and partners work together on the response of tracking the pandemic, advising on critical interventions, distributing vital medical supplies to those in need of them, they are racing to find a vaccine. Covid-19 vaccine hopes rekindles as WHO gives directives on the vaccine.

Immunization

Immunization currently prevents 2 to 3 million deaths every year from diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza and measles. There are now vaccines to prevent more than 20 life-threatening diseases, and work is ongoing at unprecedented speed to also make COVID-19 a vaccine-preventable disease.

There are currently more than 100 COVID-19 vaccine candidates under development, with a number of these in the human trial phase. WHO is working in collaboration with scientists, business, and global health organizations through the ACT to speed up the pandemic response. When a safe and effective vaccine is found, COVAX (led by WHO, GAVI and CEPI) will facilitate the equitable access and distribution of these vaccines to protect people in all countries. People most at risk will be prioritized.

Director General Words

“In the coming months we all hope to have good news about a vaccine for Covid-19.But if and when we have an effective vaccine, we must also use it effectively. In time as production increases, we want all people everywhere to have access to vaccines. ”Dr. Tedros, the Director General of WHO said

“But initially, when supply is limited, priority must be given to vaccinate essential workers and those most at risk-including older people and those with underlying conditions”, the Director General Added.

Vaccination will be done to some people in all countries rather than all people in a few countries. This is to not lay concerns to rich countries while the poor ones are left with no vaccine. To ensure that the vaccine is eradicated equally it will need to be shared among our interconnected world. Hopes for a vaccine before the end of the year are still there.
