Crowds Politics: Did Tumutumu Residents Boycott Uhuru’s visit?

Kenyans have expressed their diverse feelings after a low turn-up of residents of Tumutumu during President Uhuru’s visit. Netizens are circulating photos of that event showing only few people coming out to meet him on the event. Crowds politics are now playing role.

Some expressed how Kenyans are slowly moving from their diehard support to Uhuru to supporting DP Ruto.

“Wananchi are tired with his style of leadership,we can’t wait for his retirement,we can’t breath, economy is on the knees”, Weldon Langat said on twitter.

Others dismissed crowd politics, saying that these crowds do not reflect true support when it comes to vote. They gave reasons for the low turnout, blaming the cold weather and the fact that the visit happened on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the DP had a rally in Kakamega where huge crowds showed up. However, some netizens accused him of stuffing his crowds with ‘imported’ people, to increase the numbers.

Crowd Politics are a thing in Kenya, where politicians check their popularity with the crowds they attract in their rallies. Although  Uhuru is not seeking  a second term, the low turnout may be a bad sign to his popularity in Central Kenya.

Meanwhile, the President shall be leading the launch of BBI report today at the Bomas of Kenya.
