The higher education loans board(HELB) is a government institution that offers financial assistance to students placed by KUCCPS in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The assistance is in terms of loans and bursaries.
Since the pandemic struck, helb has improve some of their services. This includes upgrading to a new website which can be accessed here. All students including continuing are required to register afresh. Don’t be worried because all your previous data are moved along with you to your new portal.
Continuing students can apply for the subsequent loans using the Helb Mobile App which can be accessed from the Google Playstore. Students Demand Loans to Facilitate Online Studies
Students are now demanding higher education loans board to disburse the money in their accounts. This because most universities shifted to online studies. This is to avoid inconveniencing the students as well as save their academic calendars.
University students leaders have criticized the higher education loans board for withholding the Money, in their statement they argued that most students are from humble and poor background hence are unable to raise the required tuition fee for them to register their units for the online learning.
Most students are however optimistic believing that they will receive their loan in time, before the closure of course registration in their various institutions.
They also urged higher education loans board to give them money as a grant, and also to do away with their interests.
The student leaders said the unemployment rate in the country is worrying leaving many graduates with no work to do. They appealed to the government to ensure they create enough employment opportunities for the graduates.
But, comrades should hold their patience a little more as various sources reveal the payment process has begun. Its procedural through batch numbers and they are working on the previous academic year first.
