Form four students of Lugulu Girls High School have taken to the streets, claiming incidents of rape in the school. The visibly disturbed students held a strike and protested in Webuye town, accusing the school of covering this act up. They went to air their woes to the education offices where they did not receive any help. Later, they headed to Webuye OCS where they expressed their sentiments.
These girls later explained their predicament to the press. They shared how some of their colleagues have been raped, with the culprits going scorch-free. They also claim that male teachers violate their privacy by walking into their bathrooms while showering and beating them for ‘being late’.
The scholars have accused their Principal, Mrs. Dina Cheruyot of turning a deaf ear to their predicaments, citing them as name-soiling. They say that she has abandoned her duty of taking care of them, considering that being a lady, she should side with them.
“She is threatening eye-witnesses(of the incident), warning that she will take them to prison if they witness. She claims that we made up these stories and she is protected by the blood of Jesus,” said one of them.
The girls have recounted how rape cases around the school have increased, leaving them helpless with no one to cry out to.

Unconfirmed source has revealed how a 16 year old girl was raped on Saturday 5th while she was taking a shower in the wee morning hours. However, upon reporting this case to the Principal, she dismissed her, putting claim that she made up the story.
However, some female teachers in the school sided with these girls and actually facilitated them to hold a demonstration. The principal of Lugulu Girls has remained mute in the whole saga.
