Nyamira Governor John Nyangarama has died early Friday while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital. The late Governor has been receiving treatment in the ICU before he passed on.
Reports show that the governor has been battling Covid-19, and his death may have resulted from Covid-related complications.
Notable leaders have sent their condolences to the family of the governor, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Earlier, Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo had contracted the virus and received treatment for three weeks until he regained full health.
The late governor left a widow and children. He died at the age of 74.
