President William Ruto, accompanied by Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, presided over the opening of 25 newly completed classrooms, commissioned 35 more, and inspected key infrastructure projects in Westlands Constituency. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to improving education, infrastructure, and economic opportunities in Nairobi.
“Every Child Must Learn” – President Ruto’s Education Commitment
Speaking at Westlands Primary School, President Ruto reaffirmed his education policy:
“Every child in Kenya needs to have an opportunity to learn. In Nairobi, I agreed with MPs that this is a special county where many children do not attend school due to a lack of classrooms.”
To bridge this gap, the President opened and commissioned several classrooms to accommodate the growing student population.
𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟱 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀

President Ruto officially inaugurated:
- 15 classrooms at Kangemi Junior School, bolstering Junior Secondary education.
- 10 classrooms at Westlands Junior School, expanding learning space for students.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi applauded the government’s support:
“A strong education system begins with proper infrastructure. These classrooms will create a conducive learning environment for our children.”

The President also launched the construction of:
- 15 new classrooms at Kangemi Junior School
- 10 new classrooms at Westlands Junior School
- 10 classrooms at Kihumbuini Primary School, following requests from the community.
At a stopover in Kangemi, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi passionately advocated for New Kihumbuini and Kihumbuini Primary Schools, emphasizing the importance of completing the stadium under construction, as both schools, each with 3,000 students, rely on the field for sporting activities.
“If you push for the completion of the stadium, it will benefit the students of these schools,” he urged the President.

During an inspection of the ongoing dormitory construction at Kangemi High School, President Ruto pledged KES 10 million to furnish the facility with beds and other essential amenities, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to school development.

President Ruto also inspected the rehabilitation of the James Gichuru Junction-Rironi Highway, which links Kangemi Ward to Kitisuru Ward. Acknowledging delays, he assured residents:
“I have spoken to the contractor to ensure completion within two months.”
MP Tim Wanyonyi, who was present during the bridge inspection, expressed his gratitude:
“The people of Westlands had sent me, and we are happy you are undertaking this project. The incomplete bridge had caused many casualties through accidents. You promised to order its completion, and we are grateful.”

At a Kangemi stopover, President Ruto revealed that the government has allocated KES 500 million for the construction of a modern Kangemi market, ensuring that traders operate in a safe and conducive environment. The announcement was met with thunderous applause from thousands of residents.
18,000 Youth Jobs in Climate Work Program
The President further directed Hon. Tim Wanyonyi to mobilize Westlands youth to be part of the additional 18,000 youth to be recruited into the National Climate Works Program in Nairobi, ensuring that Westlands benefits from the initiative.
Hon. Tim Wanyonyi praised the President’s visit, emphasizing the need for continuous investment in education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
“Westlands is ready to grow, and we welcome all development efforts that will uplift our communities,” he said.
The Westlands tour was part of President Ruto’s week-long Nairobi development program, covering Kamukunji, Mathare, Ruaraka, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, and Westlands. The next stops will be Kibra and Lang’ata, as the Head of State continues his mission to transform Nairobi.
