Tim Wanyonyi Leads ODM Delegates Meetings in Kangemi and Mt View Ahead of Grassroots Elections

Aspirant for Nairobi ODM Chairmanship and three-term Westlands MP, Tim Wanyonyi, led ODM delegatesโ€™ meetings in Kangemi and Mt View wards in preparation for the upcoming grassroots elections. The meetings, held ahead of the April sub-branch (ward) and branch (constituency) elections, brought together ODM delegates elected during the November polling station grassroots elections.

The ward delegates, now recognized as key decision-makers at the sub-branch level, will elect 77 officials per ward. These positions include 20 officials each for the PWDs League, Women League, and Youth League, alongside 17 officials for the Mainstream League. The elected officials will automatically transition to the constituency level as representatives for their respective wards.

ODMโ€™s grassroots elections are set to commence in April, following the successful polling unit elections held on November 27, 2024. According to the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), the sub-branch elections will take place on Monday, April 7, at designated centers across the country, while the branch (constituency) elections will be held on Wednesday, April 9.

A total of 77 officials will be elected at the sub-branch and branch levels across four key committees: Mainstream, Womenโ€™s League, Youth League, and PWDs League. These officials will be tasked with strengthening the party at the grassroots level and ensuring effective representation.

NECC has outlined that elections will be conducted through consensus or voting by a show of hands. Voting will occur between 10 AM and 2 PM on the respective election dates. Only delegates elected at the polling unit level will be eligible to participate, and those who have not paid the KES 100 registration fee will not be allowed to vote.
