ODM leader Raila Odinga has announced reviving of the BBI agenda. Speaking in Mashujaa day celebrations in Kisii, Odinga says that the BBI train had gone for a break, but is back and better.
BBI train started in Kakamega, went to Mombasa, Kitui, Meru. However, before it could land in Nakuru, a bad luck forced it to go for half time. Now, the players are back and better to proceed ~Raila Odinga.
Raila concluded by saying that nobody can stop reggae, a popular slogan associated with the BBI-related campaigns.
However, when the Deputy President stood to give his remarks he watered down Raila’s statement. Ruto instead went championing for inclusivity and having a ‘robust conversation’.
“My friend Raila has talked about reggae but I hope that we will have a robust conversation that will bring everyone on board”, said Ruto.
When the President spoke he tactfully avoided mentioning any leads on BBI politics. However, he advocated Kenyans to avoid constitutional rigidity and allow change to happen. This points in the direction of making BBI, since the report will make such changes.
Recently, the President and the cabinet held a retreat meeting in Taita Taveta in which the future of this report was most likely discussed. This suggests that he might be officially receiving the report soon.
