MESSAGE FROM THE TSC CEO DR NANCY MACHARIA
On behalf of the TCS, I wish all teachers a happy world teachers day.Today we join the rest of the world and especially the teaching fraternity in celebrating this day. In our noble profession of shaping the destiny of our country through offering quality education.
Coming in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s world teachers day is very significant.
Our teachers have been front-line soldiers. They have been sharing ministry of Health safety messages to learners and their communities.
Despite the pandemic the teachers have tried their best. This by engaging students in academic, life skills and guidance and counseling.
I wish to particularly recognize some teachers. Teacher Stephen Onditi for teaching learners how to rear chicken at Homa bay. Elizabeth Kadzo for rescuing the girl child from early marriages in Utange, Mombasa. Joel Kariuki for his art lesson to the pupils in Nyeri.
Ben Owiti from Kisumu for training the learners in football during the pandemic. Lastly Mary Wandia Mwangi from Nyeri. She coordinated the support a Girl and Ngarisha kijana initiative by mobilizing funds from fellow teachers and well wishers.
This are just a few of the many teachers who have gone beyond the call of duty. So as to heed this year’s World teachers day theme. The theme is “Teachers leading in crisis, re-imagining the future”
The commission is proud of all Kenyans for observing the given measures. The effort have contributed to the flattening of the curve. Once we resume teaching we are confident to recover the lost time. We appreciate your dedication to duty. The commitment to improve your welfare.
