Education in the new normal is technology related if you think it in only one dimension. In the 21st century, Education has mostly being formal and mostly focused on the reading part. Only recently, have corporations and institutions been emphasizing on hands on skills. This is not being bias to the formal and theoretical part of the education sector. It is just trying to emphasize much on complementing the theoretical part of the school work to actually doing it.
The new normal, which has been brought about by the covid-19 pandemic all over the world has changed a lot in our education sector. ‘In every crisis, there lies an opportunity ‘, well Covid -19 exposed many flaws present in the education sector which needs improvement on. The flaws include:
- improve on the e-learning systems of the various learning institutions
- Replace old hardware with new all compatible hardware
- Online learning
- More training to staff to more in information technology
- Focus more on more practical hands on skill
Improve on the e-learning systems of the various educational institutions
Before the pandemic came, some institutions had not invested in e-learning portals. The institutions which had, they were not so efficient so they had to be improved. An efficient e-learning portal should be able to host as many students as possible at the same time. Now various learning institutions are investing in the e-learning not only for now but for the future to come.
Replace old hardware with new all compatible hardware
Old is gold many say, but that doesn’t apply in the machines and tech related products. Learning institutions were made to identify old hardware which could not be compatible with latest software. The software which they need to kind of transit to the new normal, most of it needs new hardware with latest features.
Online learning
Online learning is now the new normal in education. Universities, High schools, and primary schools are adapting to the issue and it has so many factors behind it to be successful. Some students in poor backgrounds can’t afford smartphones nor laptops or money to keep attending cyber. For online learning to be successful it needs all stakeholders to work together and improve on it.
More training to staff to more in Educational information technology
Staff in the education needs to know the know how of information technology. It is not supposed to be into it deeply but just a little more than the basics. This will ensure that as we move forward, it will be easier to blend in the tech era, where almost everything will go digital.
Focus more on more practical hands on skill
Learning institutions should now focus on giving skills as teaching goes down in the various fields. The outside corporate business world is mainly focused on skills rather than figures on report cards. Learning institutions should ensure maximum skills are achieved by students even through online learning.
Education in the new normal, teaches us to be flexible in most things in life generally and be open to any positive change.
