Reasons why you should not sleep with your phone

Nearly half of the mobile users in the world sleep with their phones close to them. This mostly happens in the process of chatting or when Insta-scrolling on their smartphones while others just decide to do it deliberately. Perhaps so that one can have quick access to your phone in case of an emergency. This trend is common among youths because of the pressure of social media and wants to keep in touch every moment. But while one may have good intentions, snuggling up with your phone at night can cause more harm to your  health.

Dangers of sleeping with a phone

For most people, the phone is always the last thing they look at before they sleep. This makes one ending up sleeping so late hence reducing the normal sleeping hours. Research had it that sleeping near you can because the following side effects:
Prevents one from sleeping-Mobile phones and tablets have LED screens which give off blue light. This light disrupts the production of melatonin which regulates the body sleeping cycle. This will lead to one having insomnia hence fatigue.
Increases the risk of having cancer-Phone emits radiofrequency energy which is associated with causing brain cancer, tumors of the acoustic nerve, and salivary glands. Brain tumors are the main worry since in recent phones the antennas are at the corners increasing the risk.
Can damage your eyes-Nighttime exposure to the blue light emitted by cell phones can damage your vision. The light damages the retina leading to macular degeneration.
Can lead to mood and personality changes. One can receive a message that isn’t pleasing hence ending up disrupting him the whole night.

Could set your pillow into flames. This may happen when one uses a phone until it heats up then ends up putting it under the pillow. When under the pillow, the phone does not cool down because it is pressed hence causing a fire.
Can cause headache and muscles pain due to the radiations emitted.
Unless the phone is off or in airplane mode, it is advisable to keep it at least a few feet away from your bed.
